Events I cover in Charleston

How coverage gets planned

Hours are how event photography is priced, but they are not how it should be planned.

  • Name the three must-have moments. The award, the keynote, the toast, the headline set. Coverage is built around those and everything else fits between them.
  • Share the run sheet. If I know the speeches start at 7:40, I am in position at 7:35 rather than crossing the room when it happens.
  • Flag the people who must be photographed. Sponsors, honorees, the board chair. Names in advance beats pointing across a crowded room.
  • Decide the delivery speed before the event. Same-night images and a 14-day gallery are two different jobs, and only one of them needs me editing on site.

Charleston venues, honestly

Charleston venues swing between very bright historic halls with tall windows and very dark bars and music rooms with almost nothing to work with. Some venues and most performances prohibit flash outright.

That is why the venue matters more than the hour count when you are getting a quote. Fast prime lenses handle the no-flash rooms; bounced off-camera flash handles rooms where the light genuinely is not there. Tell me where it is and I will tell you which one it needs. Every paid event is also covered with a second body, spare batteries, duplicate cards, and a backup flash, because an event does not offer a second take.

Charleston event FAQ

How much does event photography cost in Charleston?

Event coverage starts at $250/hr, 2-hour minimum. Price is driven by hours of coverage first, then by how fast you need the images and whether you need on-site editing. Concert and live music coverage starts at $300.

Do you offer hourly event coverage?

Yes. Coverage is built around your schedule, from a single hour through full-day coverage. For most events the useful unit is not hours but moments: tell me the three things that must be photographed and I will build the coverage window around them.

How many photos will be delivered?

Most events receive between 75 and 200 edited images depending on the length of coverage. Every delivered image is edited, rather than handing over an unculled card and calling the volume a feature.

When will I receive my event gallery?

Event galleries are delivered within 7 to 14 days. Sneak peeks are available within 48 hours, and on-site editing can get you a handful of images before the event has even finished, which is what you want if your team is posting the same night.

Can you photograph in a dark venue without flash?

Yes. Charleston venues range from bright historic halls to very dark bars and music rooms, and some venues or performances prohibit flash outright. Fast prime lenses cover the no-flash situations, and bounced off-camera flash covers rooms where light is genuinely not available. Tell me the venue in advance and I will tell you which approach it needs.

Do you carry backup equipment?

Yes. Events do not offer a second take, so every paid event is covered with a second body, spare batteries, duplicate cards, and a backup flash. Cards are backed up before I leave the venue.

Do you photograph campus and student organization events?

Regularly. Greek life socials, cultural organization nights, multicultural celebrations, and university programming are a significant part of the work, including events at College of Charleston. Student organization budgets are usually fixed, so coverage is scoped to the hours that matter rather than the whole evening.

Can we use the photos for marketing and press?

Yes. Event images are delivered edited and ready for marketing use, including social, newsletters, annual reports, grant reporting, and press. Usage terms are agreed in writing before the event so nobody is guessing later.
